Dog Waits By The Door For Her Father To Return From The Hospital

Katie Snyder’s plan was simple. Let her dog Leia stay with her dad to keep the old man company for a short while. However, within the short span that Leia and Katie’s dad stayed together, they developed such a deep bond that Katie had no choice but to let her dad keep Leia permanently.

Perhaps the strongest sign of their bond was when Katie’s dad had to be taken to the hospital with secondary complications from cancer. Dad and Katie’s mom had been out for their 40th wedding anniversary but when it was time to come home, only mom returned. Leia was visibly crushed. In a picture that Katie’s mom shared with her daughter, Leia is seen standing by the door with her head bowed waiting for Katie’s dad. She couldn’t understand why the man didn’t come home.

“When she sent me that picture, I immediately burst into tears. It absolutely killed me. I was able to see how much Leia truly loved my dad and that she was missing him.” Katie said.

What makes the incidence even more heartfelt is that Leia is not one to show emotional vulnerability.

“Leia is not your typical cuddly dog. She’s very independent and laid-back.” Katie says.

However, at that moment when Katie’s dad did not come back home, Leia let herself feel and she was not afraid to show her emotions. She was a dog deeply missing her dad.

“When it comes to loyalty, she is the true definition of a dog. He is her human now.” Katie says of Leia. PS. Dad returned the next day and Leia couldn’t control her excitement!
