Ideally, you want to keep your pup hydrated when the weather is hot. Pups only have sweat glands on the tip of their noses and their paw pads, so they don’t really have a lot of options when it comes to cooling down – panting aside, of course.
In these cases, the next best thing you can do is just make sure they have plenty of water.
Some parents even think of adding ice to their pup’s water bowl to keep it cool, or even give their pups some melting ice as a form of enrichment and hydration. In this case, however, it seems that this family forgot something crucial in this German Shepherd’s water bowl – there’s no water.
This isn’t really a problem, since the ice will melt eventually, but it’s clear this poor pup really just wants a drink of water. He’s licking the condensation of the sides of the bowl, in hopes of getting a drink!
