9/11 Hero Bretagne Is Laid To Rest At 16 Years Old. I'm All Tears :(

All heroes, especially the pup ones, deserves honor and hero’s farewell in death. That’s exactly what Bretagne, the last known 9/11 search and rescue pup, received when she was was laid to rest at the age of 16.

This amazing heroine pup was also deployed during Hurricane Katrina and several other disasters. When she left the force, she worked as a fire search and rescue pup for a local fire department, and then, when she retired, she moved on to teach kids how to read once a week. What an incredible pup! As a young puppy, Bretagne had been the pushiest of her litter and had the never-give-up attitude that would make her an ideal rescue pup.

Don’t you think it’s great that this fur ball found her true calling? As her mommy walked her up the path to Fairfield Animal Hospital to have her put to sleep, the walk was flanked by firefighters who honored her contributions. It’s hard not to shed a tear at this fur ball’s wonderful life story. Rest in peace, Bretagne. Thank you for everything you’ve done! Share this to spread her story around.
