When Morgan the old dachshund dog’s parent passed away, he wound up in Florida’s Lee County Domestic Animal Services. At the age of 18, all he really wanted was a forever home where he could live out his life in peace.
Knowing it would be difficult to get Morgan adopted, the rescue reached out to Senior Paws Sanctuary, and the sanctuary’s founder fell in love with Morgan as soon as they saw him. They took the dog to their organization and placed him in the foster home of Kate Reidy.
Reidy had a 10-year-old dog named Charlie of her own and expected Morgan to be slow and sleepy – but he was anything but!
In the year since he moved in, Morgan seems to have only grown younger and younger – he’s livelier and more active than ever! He needs some stairs to get onto the bed and sofa, but he loves exploring and demanding snuggles from those he loves.
Then, Reidy did something amazing – she decided to make a bucket list for Morgan to really make the most of his twilight years!
He became a junior deputy, met Santa, gone on a plane, headed to the beach, watched a baseball game, done some yoga, and sat on a motorbike!
But Morgan wasn’t done. He still wanted to get to meet Ellen DeGeneres, go to a spa, and ride in a hot air balloon. He turned 19 and received international birthday cards from all around the world!
Morgan passed away when he was a little over 21 years old.
