The last thing any dog parent wants to see is an empty yard that’s supposed to have a dog in it. Unfortunately, it’s all too easy for dogs to slip out. They can dig holes, jump or climb over fences, or find weak points to break through.
Here’s how to prevent this from happening:
Teach Boundaries
Train your dog so they know where they’re supposed to be and where they shouldn’t go past. Flags, rocks, trees, and other items can serve as markings for boundaries.
Don’t Leave Them Alone For Long
Getting a second dog can help keep both dogs engaged and disinterested in leaving. If that’s not an option, make sure you’re spending plenty of time with your dog!
Make The Yard Magical
Fill your yard with things that turn it into the perfect playground. A fence window, a sandbox, a play zone, and lots of toys can all be helpful.
Don’t Let It Be Boring
If your dog is outside in a boring, drab yard, they are more likely to try and find a way to occupy themselves.
Improve The Fence
Make sure your fence is sturdy and doesn’t have a ton of weak spots or rickety areas that a determined dog could find their way through.
