Holden was depressed, terrified, and shaky when he first wound up in a Georgia shelter. He’d been seized in a drug raid on the home he’d once lived in, but the shelter was already too full. He had nowhere to stay – he was stuck in the intake area, forced to live in a blanket with no space of his own.
The shelter reached out on social media, hoping that someone could take Holden in – and Releash Atlanta answered the call.
The pup weighed a mere 25 pounds, meaning he was 15 pounds underweight, and though terrified, he eagerly devoured any food he saw.
X-rays revealed something even more shocking – inside of him, there was a tumor weighing a whopping 7 pounds that could kill him if it was not removed.
Releash Atlanta brought the pup in and was able to successfully remove the tumor. At this point, the anxious pup was beginning to open up. His tail would wag when he was shown kindness, even though he usually looked depressed and lacked any energy at all.
Holden was moved to a foster home with experienced foster parent Melissa Lentz, where he would recover and rest. Nine other pups were already living there, and Holden began to feel comfortable around them.
He slowly blossomed, wolfing down all food and showing off a sweet personality. He even began to learn tricks, like shaking hands! Right now, Holden is awaiting biopsy results that will reveal whether he has cancer or not, but thankfully, it looks like the tumor was benign.
He has some more to do – neutering, a trip to the dentist, and more recovery – but he’ll soon be ready to go to a forever loving home! If you’re interested in adopting Holden, you can reach out to Releash Atlanta here.
