Dogs and fire hydrants have always been associated with each other, so it’s only fitting that this wonderful pup received one of his own.
Kevin is a pit bull pup who was abandoned in a field and taken in by Paws Across Oswego County. He showed signs of being neglected throughout his entire life, with patches of fur missing and appearing very malnourished. Vets determined that his tail had been broken in the past, but had healed bent, leaving him with only half a tail.
But despite everything he had been through, Kevin was endlessly optimistic and positive. Through meals of good food and medicated baths, Kevin slowly recovered, capturing the hearts of staff in the process due to his loving and kind personality.
There was just one problem: Kevin’s skin issues and the fact that he became overexcited with other pups made it difficult for him to get adopted. And then bad news arrived, and it was revealed that Kevin was beginning to experience to early stages of what would be kidney failure. Staff then realized that he would be living the rest of his life with them, so they set up a bucket list for him.
One volunteer managed to get in contact with the mayor of Osgewo, who agreed to meet Kevin and bring him around for a day of fun! Even more, the mayor went above what staff asked for and wanted to dedicate a fire hydrant to the pup. Amazing! When the day came for Kevin to reach the mayor, he dressed up well and had lots of fun in the car ride on the way over.
He was even happier to get to meet so many new people, and he stood prim and proper to have a picture taken of him and the mayor next to his personal fire hydrant. It was an incredibly experience for this pup, who now even has a dog treat company making fire hydrant cookies in his name and with his face on the packaging! Everyone is making sure that his remaining time is the best ever. Do like and share this lovely story!
