Attention, pup parents! If you regularly purchase food for your pup from a brand called Evanger’s, then please read the following information.
Back in January, the company issued a voluntary recall for several 12 oz cans of one of its line of food, the “Hunk of Beef Au Jus”, due to a potential pentobarbital contamination. Pentobarbital is a euthanasia drug that affects animals and can cause drowsiness, dizziness, excitement, loss of balance, nausea, and even fatalities in more extreme cases.
The previous recalled products resulted in five pups becoming ill and one passing away. You can read more about the first recall, including the affected lot numbers and details, here.
As a cautionary step, Evanger’s has expanded its recall to include two more of its lines of products under similar lot numbers. These products are the “Braised Beef Chunks” and “Pulled Beef” food.
If you have these products in your pantry, don’t feed them to your pup! Instead, return them to your place of purchase in order to receive a full refund. Do share this around with other pup parents.
