A senior stray dog was cruelly beaten up and left paralyzed to die in a garbage pile next to a stream in Turkey. Alone, in pain, and terrified, it seemed like there was no hope left for Khan.
But that’s when help arrived. The moment he saw rescuers, Khan’s tail fervently began to wag, despite all his suffering. He was rushed to the Let’s Adopt Rescue Center, where he was put in the ICU.
Scans revealed that he was, indeed, paralyzed – but that wasn’t all. He also had ehrlichia, anemia, pneumothorax, and severe spinal damage. Khan must have been in a lot of pain, the pup’s strength and spirit were apparent.
He would try and wag his tail and give his rescuers adorable and determined expressions. Staff were worried that his wounds were too much for a dog of his age to survive – but though he was getting on in years, his soul was certainly young!
Khan went through exhausting therapy sessions, and his determination showed staff just what he was capable of. Within a few weeks, Khan learned to move around on his own, and soon, he was able to walk once more!
He showered everyone around him with affection and love, and he gained fans watching his progress and cheering him on worldwide. That’s when a woman stepped forward and asked to adopt Khan. Since most people don’t want to adopt seniors, the shelter was relieved, and Khan couldn’t be happier!
He now lives with a Mom who gives him unconditional love. Watch a video of Khan’s rescue and progress below. Be warned, as it contains some graphic content!
