Rebel the West Highland White Terrier pup was thrilled when he was finally adopted and brought into a loving forever home after spending a time at the Oklahoma Westie Rescue. He was brought home by the Frazier family and taken to Tulsa.
It wasn’t long before Rebel became friends with the four other rescue pups in the family, and he soon established himself as a very good boy with a kind heart and a lot of smarts. And then, recently, this fact was proven to be 100% true when he became a shining hero.
One day, while running around in the backyard with his fellow rescue friends, an accident happened that nearly spelled tragedy. Dax, another West Highland White Terrier pup, was enjoying his romp when he accidentally slipped and fell right into the swimming pool in the yard. Security camera footage revealed that the pup was having severe issues clambering back out of the pool.
That’s when Rebel rushed towards Dax, surveyed the situation, and quickly decided to take action. He reached over and grabbed Dax by his collar, using all his strength to pull the pup out of the potentially deadly situation and back onto dry land, saving his life.
This dramatic video of the event from the family’s security camera was soon shared on social media, and Rebel was hailed a hero! When the Oklahoma Westie Rescue found out about his deeds, they were thrilled for him.
In a statement, the rescue organization talked about how many people make the mistake of assuming that shelter dogs are “broken”, or that they will be less than normal pets due to their histories and backgrounds. Rebel’s story and his brave heroic act prove otherwise!
