Dr. Greg Hurst with the White Oaks Animal Hospital speaks about tips and tricks to keep your pets safe from fleas and ticks.
Fleas and ticks hatch and seek to attach themselves on pets during humid periods, and especially and sunny periods. In retrospect, it’s advisable to use any number of products of your choice to protect your pet from fleas and ticks, but the most notable ones are washing and/or bathing your pet during humid periods with anti-flea shampoo and giving them a pill in a form of a tablet, every month of the first day.
This then gets metabolized in the system of the pet, doesn’t harm it in any way, but kills any attached adult fleas and ticks. These are general guidelines, but if you live in a place where it’s constantly humid or if you have multiple pets and there’s a chance that if one pet catches fleas and ticks it can spread it to other pets, you will need to take these precautionary measures more seriously and practice them to the point as if they were your second nature if you truly want to keep your pet safe and sound.
Remember, a healthy pet is a happy pet! Keep your pets safe, sound and healthy and they will make you happy, sharing their joy with you.
