Looking For A Professional Groomer Just Became As Easy As ABC!

Alright here’s a test. Go to Google and search for “professional groomer” and see how many results you come up with. I just came up with 7,50,000 professional groomers. Now how do I pick the “best” one?

At one point you will decide that grooming your fur ball is best left at the hands on professionals and I don’t blame you. You might be good at combing and bathing your fur balls, but if it wasn’t important enough professional groomers wouldn’t exist, don’t you think?

Finding a groomer, just any groomer is pretty easy, actually. The moment you step out of the house you’ll see big billboards advertising certain professional groomers, but of course, you’re not just going to walk into any dog salon, are you? No, you shouldn’t either. Here are some steps that will help you find the perfect one for your fur ball:

  • Ask your friends where they take their fur ball and if they can recommend a groomer for your fur ball. Word of mouth is better than an internet search, trust me. A good recommendation is worth gold so if your friend recommends a groomer, check them out first.
  • If your friends have no recommendations, ask your vet, they’ll definitely know. Sometimes vets do employ a groomer onsite and he/she will be able to tell you who you can go to.
  • If that doesn’t work out either, the last resort is the internet. Looks for professional groomers around you, and mind you you’re going to come up with crazy number of results. But don’t just Google it, also check out, www.findagroomer.com or www.petgroomer.com to see if anyone matches your requirements.

Now assuming you have found your perfect groomer, the next thing to do is to check their certifications, but remember not all groomers have certificates and you might find those with no certificates to be the most recommended. so you’ve got to play by the ear here. Once this process is complete, now you need to know the right questions to ask. to make your life easy, here’s what you need to ask your groomer to see if he’she is the right match for you:

  1. What hours are you open for business?
  2. Are you available for emergencies or after hours?
  3. How long have you been in business?
  4. What are your certifications? With what organization?
  5. How many clients do you see?
  6. What breeds do you see most of?
  7. How many of my breed do you see?
  8. Are you comfortable working on my breed?
  9. How much do you charge for a full grooming? What procedures does a full grooming include?
  10. How do you handle difficult dogs? Do you muzzle or tranquilize them?
  11. Do you use cage dryers? If so, how often do you check on dogs with cage dryers?
  12. What do you charge for just a bath and brushing? Nail clipping?
  13. How many staff members do you employ?
  14. What other services do you offer?
  15. Do you have an emergency on-call vet? Who is it?
  16. Do you have references?

Hopefully by the time you finish asking these questions, you will have found yourself a professional groomer for your fur ball! Remember to SHARE this post with your friends too 🙂
