One morning, an elderly man was enjoying his cup of coffee just outside his motorcycle shop. As he was looking into the distance, he noticed something on a cliff.
It was so far away that he could barely see what exactly the speck was, but he deduced it was an animal that had somehow gotten stuck. He called the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region (HSPPR) to let them know what was going on. The HSPPR quickly sent two officers to investigate.
When the officers arrived at the shop, they were directed towards the speck by the elderly man. The officers needed binoculars to see that there was an actual animal there, but the man was sure of what he saw. He had never seen that dot there in the past, so it couldn’t be anything but an animal.
And, truth be told, it was a dog. And she was stuck 150 feet above a creek. The officers started planning a rescue operation. It took them two and a half hours to figure out exactly where she was, how to get to her, and how to rescue her safely. In that time, the officers were able to get some climbing gear.
They got to the cliff, and Officer Barker rappelled down to get her. The dog was very scared, but she still tried to make her way towards the officers. After a while, they finally got her and took her to safety. When they arrived at the HSPPR, they saw that she had a collar, so they contacted her family.
They had been looking for her for days and were very relieved to hear she was fine. The dog, Jessie Lee, got the care she needed and was quickly reunited with her family.
