More than 80 pets found new forever homes at the Pet Adoption Day last Saturday! The event was hosted by spcaLA and presented by KLOS 95.5 at the P.D. Pitchford Companion Animal Village and Education Center, part of which is shared by the Long Beach Animal Care Services (ACS).
Many of the adopted animals were senior pups, who often get overlooked during everyday adoption. This was in part thanks to a promotional deal offered by ACS, where senior animals could be adopted for the reduced adoption fee of $20. On top of that, Thai Silk Restaurant, located at 1506 Broadway, Long Beach, supported the cause by taking $25 off the bills of any new pup parents who adopted a pet over the age of seven from the event!
It’s great to see so many pups adopted – but more are still in need of homes. Senior pups make fantastic pets as they are typically more relaxed and less likely to display baby behaviors, and once they receive the loving care they need, will show off their beautiful personalities and love you forever!
The ACS still has many senior pets available for adoption at their center in Pitchford Companion Animal Village, 7700 East Spring Street, Long Beach. If you’re heading to the shelter, you get free parking! Among the pups still waiting for homes are Pogo, an 8-year-old Chihuahua mix with a laid back personality who adapts well to homes with other dogs, and Gizmo, a 7-year-old Chihuahua mix who would love a retirement home to live in!
If you can, drop by the ACS and adopt a senior pup! They’re just as deserving of homes as pets of any other age. Like and share away!
