Officials Raid Alleged Puppy Mill And Rescued 68 Dogs And Puppies

Deputies from the Lake County Sheriff’s Department rushed into a Center Township building next to a house after receiving reports of dogs within the area who looked like they were in bad condition.

They suspected that the building was being used for illegal breeding activities.

The deputies were horrified by what they found. A whopping total of sixty-eight adult dogs and puppies – mostly bulldogs – were found within the building, living in filthy conditions and the unbearable stench of urine and feces. There were two or three new litters of baby puppies, and other animals – game birds were kept all over the facility, as well as a horse and a goat.

Numerous different animal control departments helped move the pups to the Lake County Animal Shelter for medical checkups and wait for adoption clearance and, hopefully, to find foster homes. Luckily, most dogs did not seem to be undernourished, but they did suffer from other infections and health conditions.

The owner of the building will be facing charges for his misdeeds and neglect of the animals. In the meantime, the Lake County Animal Shelter is in need of donations to be able to properly care for all the new animals! They are looking for food, blankets, towels, cleaning supplies, and financial assistance, so if you can donate to them, please do consider it! If not, then do like and share to help spread the word!
