Terrified Pup Rescued With The Saddest Note That Broke Everyone's Hearts

When Villalobos Rescue Center, New Orleans arrived at their work location one day last month, they were shocked to see a very frightened, sad pup tethered by a leash to their fence.

The pup had become tangled in the leash, his leg tightly wrapped in it, preventing sufficient circulation from getting to the leg. Staff knew they had to get him out, but they weren’t sure how to do so – he was terrified and refused to let them near.

Staff soon found a plastic bag that had a few of the pup’s possessions in it, alongside a heartbreaking note. The note explained that the pup, named Rock, had to be given up by his Mom or Dad due to issues within the family. The letter explained that the parents of Rock’s parent had insisted on keeping the dog isolated within one room for all of his life with them. The property’s landlord was also opposed to pets on the property.

The note discussed some extra information about Rock (nicknamed Rocky), saying that he was up-to-date on all vaccinations, was good with other pets but nervous around humans, and had little to no human interaction with anyone other than his previous parent.

The letter ended by saying that the writer always donated to the shelter and hoped that they could help find a good home for the pup. The problem? The rescue organization was packed.

They barely had enough space for the pups already in their care, and Rocky was facing severe anxiety and was very scared, refusing to allow any human near him at all.

He wouldn’t do well in a shelter environment, and they were already stretched too thin. So they did what they knew was their best shot – they posted a video on Facebook about Rocky’s plight. That’s when a miracle happened. Rocky’s previous parent’s brother chanced upon the video.

This brother didn’t live in the family home anymore and had no idea that Rocky had been given up like that. He contacted the shelter and hurried there quickly. At first, staff weren’t sure if this would be a good idea. But the second Rocky spotted him, he completely transformed! He stopped growling and drawing away and ran forward to cover his brand new Dad with happy, eager kisses.

Now, Rocky is in a loving home and is learning to be more social, and he’s figuring out what it means to truly be a dog!
