Training your pups to play fetch is always a fun activity, and it makes for a delightful game! But have you ever wondered just what exactly compels a pup to go chasing after something sailing through the air? The answer lies in their prey drive!

Pups like this German Shepherd puppy and his Labrador Retriever sibling are pups that have a very strong prey drive in them, which compels them to go chasing after a target that is smaller than them and moving very, very fast – like these balls! What a convenient thing to utilize when we’re trying to train them to fetch things.

This means that when the ball goes flying for these pups, they’re after it like a shot! This Dad is smart enough to use such an instinct to his advantage, since it allows him to train them to do all sorts of fun things. A smart move on his part!
