When we think of animals used for research and testing, mice, rabbits and monkeys come to mind.
While these animals are commonly used in cruel experiments, many people do not realize that cats and dogs are also subjected to harmful tests. In the pharmaceutical industry, beagles are sadly regularly used to test for toxicity in drugs among other things.
Because understandably, many people are outraged to learn that beagles, animals they consider beloved members of the family, are subjected to this cruel life, labs don’t openly disclose their use and are quick to euthanize the dogs after testing to keep it under wraps. However, the future looks a little different for these 10 beagles.

The Beagle Freedom Project worked with three organizations who came together and made this dream a reality. The thin beagles had spent all 6 years of their lives in small cages, but after a lot of careful persistence, these beagles were released to these organizations. Here, with the BFP’s help they will receive the medical attention, love, and care they deserve and will hopefully be adopted into loving homes.
