If your dog’s breed has a history of heart problems, it’s important that you speak to your vet and see how you can help prevent heart problems in your dog and what the best course of action is.
As responsible dog parents, it’s important to recognize the signs and symptoms to give them the best possible chance of staying healthy and fit. Here are some breeds that are susceptible to heart problems. Here’s Part 1, in case you missed it.

These fluffy dogs can suffer from a genetic disorder that involves defective heart valves, the second most common heart problem in dogs. This genetic disorder called Aortic / Subaortic Stenosis is most common in Newfoundlands.
2. Golden Retriever
Similar to Newfoundlands, these friendly dogs are also likely to suffer from Aortic / Subaortic Stenosis.
