According to a survey by PetFinder, senior dogs wait four times longer than young dogs while trying to find their forever loving homes. But all dog parents know one thing – missing out on bringing a senior is like missing out on a lifetime opportunity.
Here are some things only parents with senior dogs understand. Here’s Part 1, in case you missed it.
1. Although looks don’t matter, but if they did, senior dogs would claim first place every single time! They’re the cutest on the planet!
2. Senior dogs are already housetrained, at least most of them, so you don’t have to go through the trouble of potty training them. Even if a senior dog isn’t potty trained, the good news is that they learn faster than a puppy does!
3. Senior dogs need their exercise, yes, but they won’t make you chase after them or run from you. They enjoy relaxing walks, much like you do. So if you have a senior dog, you can be sure that your walks together will leave you refreshed!
4. Senior dogs are extremely patient, extremely friendly and extremely loving. Their stable temperament makes senior dogs the ultimate family dog!
5. The bond you share with a senior dog is priceless, immeasurable, and extremely satisfying. No other bond can even come close to your bond with a senior dog.
