Many people search online for ways to remove the dreaded tick and end up trying dozens of old wives’ tales about how to kill them. Well, here are some tick myths, debunked! Here’s Part 1, in case you missed it!
1. Ticks won’t survive in the winter – FALSE
2. Treat your dogs for ticks only when summer starts – FALSE
3. Ticks live in trees – FALSE (Ticks can climb and won’t mind climbing grass blades to get on your dog’s body)
4. Ticks explode when they have too much blood – FALSE (There’s no such thing as too much blood!)
BONUS!
1. You can take out the tick using your fingers and fingernails – FALSE (This is only going to make matters worse as you might accidentally squeeze the tick’s saliva and bodily fluids into your dog’s bloodstream, causing an infection.)
2. A tick can grow a new body if its head is still attached to the victim’s body – FALSE. (That’s not possible, and scary to say the least.)
3. Surprise a tick and it won’t attach itself to you – FALSE (This is hilarious, but sadly it doesn’t work!)
4. Ticks will lay eggs inside of you if not removed – FALSE (Ticks don’t lay eggs on their victims)
