103 Puppies Rescued After An Alleged Puppy Mill Truck Accidentally Overturned On The Road

Sometimes, coincidences can save lives. That’s what may have happened when a truck carrying 103 puppies to Avoca, New York overturned on the interstate, seriously injuring two pups.

One pup suffered from a leg fracture, and the other a fractured jaw. Three other pups have minor injuries.

It seemed like a horrible situation until the Finger Lakes SPCA were called in and realized the dogs may have come from a puppy mill and were able to rescue them. The puppies did not show any sign of bad health during medical examinations, however, and whether or not they came from an illegal breeding facility is not certain.

The Finger Lakes SPCA were asked to step into the situation by the New York State Police, and they are currently seeking a formal release of ownership for these puppies, who are all young and of various different breeds. Many of them were of the “toy” breed variety, or small. Meanwhile, the two injured pups are in a stable condition after being treated at Bath Veterinary Hospital.

Reportedly, the transport company that the truck was from paid for all medical and boarding fees required for these puppies. Eighty-six of these pups are being kept in an isolation area at the Finger Lakes SPCA’s center and given thorough medical examinations.

“Our agency actively works to prevent animal cruelty through our humane programs, the care of animal cruelty victims and by supporting area law enforcement with their investigations as requested,” said the Fingers Lakes SPCA. We really owe our shelters a lot! Do share this news!
