6 Things To Keep In Mind When Traveling With Your Dogs

Traveling with your dog can be a lot of fun, but it takes some getting used to. Here are 6 tips for traveling with dogs.

Find The Right Crate

Your dog should be comfortable with the crate they’re traveling in. After all, they’ll be spending a whole lot of time in it! Make sure it’s the right size for them and a few familiar items, too.

Balance Water and Bathroom Breaks

Your dog will need to be hydrated to be fully comfortable, but depending on your mode of transportation, they may not get to have very many bathroom breaks. This means you’ll have to find a balance between giving your dog enough water and making sure they don’t need to pee at the worst times.

Check Health

It’s always a good idea to take a routine check-up appointment with a vet before you go on a trip. Get a health certificate and ensure all preventative care is up to date.

Don’t Use Sedatives Unless You Absolutely Have To

Sedatives can make your dog uncomfortable and even cause health issues.

Keep Your Routine

Make sure your dog still gets to have their daily walk and play before the traveling begins, so they burn off excess energy. Even if it’s not part of your daily routine, try to tire your dog out before you go!

Pack Well

Bring your dog’s bowls, toys, leash, toys, treats, poop bags, medical information, food, water, and anything else they may need.
