6 Ways To Help Your Dog Sleep Through The Night

An interrupted sleep pattern often leaves us feeling extremely fatigued during the day and unable to concentrate on our work. This may even carry over into the day after, making it difficult to get back to a normal routine.

One of the guilty parties for waking us up in the night is our precious pooch. Our dogs can wake us up for a variety of reasons, ranging from boredom to needing a bathroom break. Regardless, here are some tips on how you can address the problem at hand:

  1. Keep your dog stimulated throughout the day: dogs need at least an hour of exercise per day and if we cannot give this to them, they may be energetic at night
  2. Take a bathroom break before bed: make sure to take your dog out for a bathroom round before bed
  3. Keep night-time calm: because our doggy’s emotions are highly based on ours, it is important for us to keep a relaxed and calm atmosphere to calm them down too
  4. Consider crate training: a useful tool for keeping your dog sleeping through the night can be crate training. Having them sleep inside a crate stops them from wandering about
  5. Keep your canine companion comfortable: when your furry-faced friend feels comfortable and relaxed, they are more likely to sleep well too. If your dog has taken a liking to a specific toy, place that toy in their bed at night to give them a sense of comfort. Blankets and a good quality bed can also be effective
  6. Take care of any medical issues: if you suspect your dog is in pain or has any ailments, this could be a reason they are up at night. It is advised to take them to get checked out by a vet, as it is always better to be safe than sorry!
