Don’t you wish your dog could talk so they could tell you what’s on their mind? Luckily, not all communication has to be verbal! Here are 7 ways your dog speaks to you through their body language.
Panting In Cool Temperatures
If it isn’t warm but your dog is panting, they may be stressed out by something that is happening, the environment, or unfamiliar circumstances.
Sudden Head Movements
If a dog reacts to touch with a sharp and sudden snapping back of their head to look at the spot, they are uncomfortable and don’t want to be touched there.
They Are Stiff
Repeated stiffness can point to awkwardness, anxiety, or general alertness due to a concern.
Bringing Items
If a dog trots up to you with an item in tow, they are likely asking for you to play with them. They want you to throw the item, play tug-of-war with it, or just give them some attention.
Barking At You
This is a learned behavior – a dog has figured out that barking gets your attention, so they do it again and again.
Tucking Their Tail
A dog who crouches down, tail tucked, is frightened of the situation.
Whining
Dogs can whine for many different reasons, but it almost always means they want or need something.
