74-Year-Old Saves Her Dog From An Alligator By Jumping On Its Back

Sometimes, miracles happen and people are able to do unthinkable things. The bond between a dog and their parent can be so strong, that they would sacrifice anything for one another.

This is clear in the story of Suzan Marciano, a 74-year-old woman, who had to literally save her dog from the jaws of an alligator. In late August of 2021, a woman living in Florida was taking a walk in the park along with her Golden Retriever mix, Nalu. They were playing by the lake, as they usually do. Everything seemed normal. Suzan tossed a stick towards the water for Nalu to fetch, when she felt her heart drop. Laying in the water was a six-foot-long alligator. In mere seconds the alligator had Nalu trapped between its jaws.

At that moment, Suzan didn’t even think about what she was doing. She just acted and launched herself on top of the alligator. She began hitting it until it released Nalu from its grip. But this had a cost. The alligator turned around and bit her hand. By some stroke of pure luck, she managed to escape, picked up Nalu, and stumbled back on the trail.

Poor Suzan and Nalu just wanted to get home. But Suzan realized they were both hurt, so she called a friend to ask for advice. The friend advised her to go to the hospital, so that’s what she did. Suzan needed five stitches, and Nalu had to undergo a two-hour surgery to stitch up the wounds in her stomach and thigh.

They both made it through, but the trauma is still with them. They don’t even want to get close to the park now. Authorities tried searching for the alligator, but they were unsuccessful. If you’re in the Bota Raton area in Florida and you see anything, alert authorities as quickly as possible.
