It’s possible to make the vet visit as smooth as possible for your dogs to eventually begin enjoying them! Wait, what? Yep! You heard that right!
While I haven’t tried all these techniques on my dog, but I can tell you that some of them worked wonders! Check out these simple ways to make your dog enjoy his vet visits! Here’s Part 1, in case you missed it!
1. Avoid waiting inside the vet office
If there’s a wait time at the vet office, wait inside your car or take a small walk with your dog until it’s their time for the exam. Avoid waiting at the vet’s office as this will only stress your dog out making him worry about what’s to come and what he should expect.
2. Bring someone with you
Dogs can be a handful, we all know that so having an extra pair of legs and hands to help you out is not a bad idea. While one of you can walk the dog, the other can fill in necessary paperwork so you’re not wasting any time at the vet’s office. This will help reduce your’s and your dog’s stress.
3. Skip breakfast
Some dogs have sensitive stomachs and so at the vet you would be in for a surprise! In order to avoid unnecessary mess, call your vet and inform them of your dog’s sensitive stomach and if required your dogs will be asked to skip breakfast to avoid a gastrointestinal upset.
4. Bring your dog’s favorite toy or treat
This is a no-brainer, but we still need to mention this. Always carry your dog’s favorite toy or treat when you go to the vet’s office. This will help calm your dog down while his exams are underway.
How many of you have tried these? Let us know in the comments!
