Dogs love to celebrate everything with you! A couple of years ago, my dog and I celebrated my first bottle flip!
Dogs are our partners in crime, they’re with us in everything we do, so what makes others think they don’t like celebrating Independence Day with us? But wait, not the fireworks, please. Here are some dog-friendly ways to celebrate the 4th of July with dogs! Here’s Part 1, in case you missed it!
1. Take them to nursing homes or an assisted living center!
If you know dogs, you know that they like to spread joy and if it were up to them, they’d make sure no human on the planet ever felt lonely. If you believe this about your dogs, know that there are many humans in nursing homes and assisted living centers who have no family to celebrate the 4th of July with. Take your dog to nursing homes or assisted living centers and bring joy to someone else’s life!
2. Playdate, anyone?
There are many dog parents out there who want to get together with other dog parents on the 4th of July so they can give their dogs an opportunity to celebrate without the added stress.
3. Go swimming with them, or start the sprinklers!
I have to confess. I LOVE sprinklers! Aren’t they fun? No? Oh. Well, dogs love them! So if you can’t go swimming, turn on the sprinklers, because I’ll tell you something – dogs love them too!
4. Stay home
The best thing you can do for your dogs is to be with them because some dogs are afraid of fireworks. If you know your dog is going to panic, set up a safe haven for your dog at home and be there with them. Read them a story or just cuddle up on the couch and watch your favorite shows together.
