Shelters and animal rescues always have to deal with cases in which the dogs they rescue come from very abusive environments. And when Hope For Paws got a call about an abandoned chihuahua who seemed to be terrified of people, they were prepared to try and help the poor dog.
Loreta was the rescuer who was tasked with helping this abandoned dog. When she arrived, the dog, who they named Arnold, was so scared that he cried if anyone tried to approach him. But she had a trick up her sleeve. She had brought Arnold a cheeseburger, which he happily accepted.
Still, Loreta knew she had to find a way to touch him. So, she and the other rescuers sat around him and petted him using a towel so he couldn’t bite them. At first, Arnold was terrified, but after a while, he began to relax.
They managed to get him to the rescue, where they gave him a warm bath and a medical exam. Fortunately, he was in good health and he was transferred to Foxy And The Hound, where Terri Fox stepped up to foster him. Terri was able to help Arnol overcome his fears, giving him a new chance at life.
Most dogs like Arnold don’t get the chance to get out of shelters, so he was a very lucky dog. After being helped by Terri, Arnold was adopted by a loving couple, Pam and Tyler Stroupe.
He is now safe and healthy, and he gets all the love he deserves.
