When Gremmy, a little Shih Tzu, was surrendered to a shelter by his abusive parent, the pup had severe trust issues. According to rescuers, Gremmy arrived at the shelter filthy, matted, sick, and aggressive toward anyone who approached him.
It was clear that Gremmy needed extensive rehabilitation to correct the damage that his abusive parent had done. So, the National Mill Dog Rescue took over his case and started rehabilitating him.
The National Mill Rescue notes that Gremmy's abuse case is one of the worst they have ever seen. Why anyone would harm a sweet, innocent dog is beyond our comprehension, but sadly, it's not uncommon.
"Gremmy quickly became a kennel favorite. Many of the volunteers fell in love with him right away – it was hard not to. How could you not fall in love with ten pounds of scared, traumatized Shih Tzu, with sad, but hopeful eyes?" the rescue wrote on YouTube.
Gremmy eventually overcame his fears and even got a Facebook page as an ambassador for abused dogs. The pup was later adopted into a family where he lived for 16 months and experienced genuine love before passing away.
Gremmy's family announced his passing on his Facebook page. "His time with us was short – but powerful," they wrote. Adding that they love and miss him every day.
