When our dogs surprise us and do incredible things, credit is always deserved. For Brian Myers, this is exactly the situation he faced.
Years ago, Brian adopted a 6-year-old German Shepherd and named her Sadie. Unfortunately, Sadie was given up to a New Jersey shelter, and grew nervous around people, and acted scared around men. Her bio from the shelter told Brian everything he needed to know about her, describing Sadie as loyal and loving with her chosen people. When Brian went to this shelter in hopes of adopting a faithful friend, he and Sadie bonded immediately.
A few weeks ago, Brian suffered a massive stroke while home, and away from a phone. Luckily, adopting Sadie turned out to be a life-saving situation for the both of them. While Brian was on the floor, Sadie continuously licked his face, keeping him away and dragged him across the room to his phone. From there Brian was able to call for help.
Brian is now in a rehabilitation facility where is trying to recover, and Sadie is with his family at their home. But don’t worry, Sadie and Brian facetime together every night. Brian called Sadie his hero and spoke with PETA about how lucky he was to have had a loyal companion like her.
He told PETA that he doesn’t know what he would’ve done if she wasn’t here. This just goes to show that there are so many loyal and loving companions that are waiting to be adopted in shelters. All it takes is a bit of bonding, love, and a chance to save more than just the dog’s life.
