Shelter pups are constantly hoping to find their forever families. For Ernie, his new home was discovered in a way few would have expected!
Ernie, who was staying at New York’s City of Buffalo Animal Shelter, was out walking with Cindy Grisanti, one of the shelter’s volunteer dog walkers. As they walked along, they came across a parked UPS van. The driver, Jason Coronado, had paused for 10 minutes for a break.
The moment Ernie saw Coronado, he seemed instantly taken to him. He was so thrilled to see the man, it was almost as if they were lost friends!
Coronado called him up into the van, and they immediately bonded, as Ernie bestowed him with lots of kisses and hugs. Grisanti tried to continue the walk after a few minutes, but the pup didn’t want to leave!
Then, a month later, Coronado spotted a social media post featuring Ernie. He had been at the shelter since August and was still in need of a home. This made him the dog who had been at the shelter the longest. So, Coronado brought the pup up with his family and they decided to adopt the pup officially!
From the moment they met, it was clear neither left the other’s mind. It’s so wonderful to see that, even though circumstances almost meant they’d never meet again, they found their way back to each other!
Ernie is a very happy pup now in his forever home, and Coronado can’t believe he didn’t decide to adopt him sooner. I guess when things are meant to be, they’re meant to be!
