After Purchasing A Kennel, Here's What You Should Keep In Mind!

In our last article, we talked about selecting the right dog kennel. So, now you have that kennel – but what next?

Placement

Make sure you put the kennel in the right place. The right location should not be very warm or placed in direct sunlight. Instead, seek a quieter portion of the house that isn’t too far removed from where you’ll be often.

Keep It Clean

Don’t forget that a kennel or doghouse can get dirty and harbor all sorts of bacteria and microorganisms that can harm your dog. Make sure you clean it regularly. But don’t use very heavily scented products so the familiar smell isn’t lost!

Get Good Bedding

Kennel floors can get pretty cold, so it’s a good idea to make sure that your dog’s house or kennel has proper bedding inside of it. This will keep them cozy and warm, and it’ll make them like being inside even more!

Flaps

Have you thought about adding a flap to the dog kennel? A plastic flap over the front can help to reduce the severity of the cold during the winter. Just make sure you tack the flap up or remove it in the warmer months so it doesn’t get too hot.
