Attention All Dog Parents: PetSmart Recalls Cut-Risk Dog Food Bowls

Listen up all dog parents. PetsMart has issued a recall of over 100,000 metal dog food bowls after it had received reports of cuts and scratches. This announcement was made by the U.S Consumer Product Safety Commission.

If you have purchased a metal dog food bowl from PetsMart recently, then pay close attention.

This recall includes the Top Paw Double Diner Dog Bowl. This consists of a set of two metal dog food bowls that have been elevated off the ground in a metal base and are surrounded by a plastic gasket. This gasket on the bottom of the bowl is detachable and leaves an unfinished edge that poses a clear risk of cuts.

These dog bowls have a dog paw print on the front of the bowls and were sold from October 2017 through June 2021 for $28 at PetSmart stores nationwide and online at www.petsmart.com.

To date, the company has received three reports of cuts and scratches to consumers’ hands. So far, there have been no reports of injuries to canines, but the risk is still very much present. As a result, consumers are being urged to stop using these recalled dog bowls. In the meantime, they may return them to any PetSmart store for a refund.

The SKU number 5270098 and UPC number 73725775404 is printed on a sticker on the underside wall of the product, near the embossed paw print.

PetsMart has issued an apology to all its valued customers and assures us that consumer safety is their highest priority.
