An autistic boy and his service dog have made history in Iowa! They are the first athlete-service dog pair to compete in a cross-country meet.
Tyler Gerdts has been running cross-country for five years, but the newest addition is his service dog. The Davenport West student was born with a brain injury and has autism. Despite his disability, Tyler managed to do what he loves best – running. He now brings his service dog with him and ran his first meet with the shepherd. Coincidentally, he also made his best time ever running with his pal!
