Stray beagle, Wolfgang, was, once, thrice his healthy weight at 90 pounds when he joined the Arizona Beagle Rescue.
Despite his limitation, Wolfgang was amicable and positive, according to foster parent, Erin McManis, who decided to foster him and help him achieve a healthier weight. Overweight Wolfgang couldn’t initially greet his mom at the door. Instead, he would remain in bed, vigorously wag his tail, and anticipate her approach.
+With McManis’ help, Wolfgang shed the excess weight and could already walk toward his mom. After a year, Wolfgang attained 51 pounds, and can, now, run, play, and swim with his sibling, Andre.
Meanwhile, McManis thought no beagle could get more obese than him until she saw Jameson, who weighed 100 pounds! After Wolfgang’s success, The Arizona Beagle Rescue asked McManis if she wanted to adopt Jameson as well. Mc Manis said she had never had more than 3 dogs, so she was unsure at first.
Eventually, McManis decided they could make room for one more. Jameson, then, joined McManis’ household last January and has, since, shed 25 pounds. Unlike Wolfgang, Jameson was only three years old and an only dog. He had difficulty sharing and adjusting to the pack. His brother, Wolfgang stepped up and helped his brother in his journey and weight loss. Jameson also needs a knee tear fixed through surgery. Once he attains ideal weight and recovers, Jameson is expected to resume activity and find his permanent adoptive family.
