New Year opens up with yet another dog food recall and this time its Big Dog Natural of Brick, NJ. This is a voluntary recall of selected products that may be contaminated with Salmonella and Listeria.
According the sources, Big Dog Natural became aware of this contamination after the FDA’s investigation detected Salmonella in a sample of Chicken Supreme and Listeria monocytogenes in Fish Supreme.

Salmonella can affect dogs as it is known to cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, abdominal cramping and fever. If you find any symptoms and if your pet has consumed the recalled product, please contact your vet. Salmonella can also affect humans from handling contaminated products. Therefore remember to always WASH YOUR HANDS after handling contaminated products and wipe any surfaces exposed to these products.

According the sources, the production lot of Big Dog Natural raw dehydrated dog food Chicken Supreme may be potentially contaminated with Salmonella and Fish Supreme may be potentially contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. These products were shipped to online costumers between 10/31/2015 and 11/13/2015
These possibly contaminated products were sold directly from the company’s website to US consumers. The voluntary recall includes Big Dog Natural Chicken and Fish Supreme. No additional products are affected by this recall.
