Dogs can’t eat all human foods, but there are many that they can enjoy, and you may want to consider giving them to your dogs instead of their usual kibble! Here’s why.
Nutritional Value
Processed human food lacks nutritional value, but all virtually all commercial dog food is processed, too – and therefore also lacks that value. But there are many human foods that have nutrients: natural ones, such as vegetables, fruits, fresh meat, and more!
Recalls Don’t Happen
Dog food recalls are anxiety-inducing and, unfortunately, all too common. But that doesn’t happen with raw, natural human foods. You’ll never hear a company recall a batch of vegetables or rescind fresh fish, so as long as you clean and prepare these items properly, you’ll never have to worry about unintended consequences for your dogs.
Artificial and Harmful Ingredients
Lots of processed kibble is packed with corn and unknown meat varieties and parts. Because it is all ground together, the resulting smell is typically quiet foul, so manufacturers have to add fat and artificial ingredients in order to make them appetizing. Dead carcasses, as well as spoiled and decaying ones, have been used in the past to make kibble.
Digestion
A canine digestive system breaks down food into its base components in order to digest them. Commercial dog food may have some components that are toxic or difficult to digest, whereas human food – if given correctly – can be easier for a dog to process.
