Can I Try Acupuncture For My Dogs?

Can I Try Acupuncture For My Dogs?

Acupuncture for your dog? Sounds weird. But an increasing number of people are swearing by this alternative treatment, claiming that it has helped alleviate a ton of pain for their dogs.

So Just What Is It?

In traditional Chinese medicine, acupuncture is presented as sticking needles into specific points of the body to provide all sorts of benefits – from treating muscle soreness, to lower blood pressure. The idea of needles may sound alarming, but most dogs find the procedure quite relaxing! (In the hands of a trained and skilled vet, of course.)

What Can Acupuncture Do?

Acupuncture has been traditionally used to treat all sorts of ailments – from organ problems and skin disorders, to even anxiety and pain management. As it turns out, studies have shown that acupuncture can be almost as efficient as opiates – without any of its side effects!

So, What’s The Conclusion?

With all the positive benefits it holds, it’s tempting to just dive straight into this course of treatment immediately. It should be advised, however, that alternative medicine should always be performed alongside any preexisting medical help your dog is receiving.

Additionally, you should always consult your vet before trying out something like this. Acupuncture isn’t for all dogs – just like how it isn’t for everyone!
