Can It Be Dangerous For Your Dogs If They Sniff Discarded Masks?

While a small number of dogs have contracted Covid-19, it is important to keep yours safe and exercise the same precautions on yourself as well.

Most dogs with Covid-19 are reported to have not shown any symptoms, but none have died from the infection. Despite the fact that Covid-19 isn’t the biggest threat to your pup what can you do about their fancy for discarded masks?

A dog’s curiosity when out and about isn’t anything new but in order to reduce its chance of stumbling across something unhygienic or threatening it’s best to walk in places that aren’t so crowded or find a dog path. If the previously mentioned spaces aren’t available to you then the next thing to be prepared for is the chance that your pup comes into contact with a discarded mask.

Maybe they sniffed it briefly or worse, have it in their mouth, the best thing to do is to usher them away from the mask, but in a way that doesn’t cause them to resist your pull or force, and if they have it in their mouth; it may be time for an interesting round of tug of war. It is recommended that parents walk their pups with disposable gloves on hand because they’d help lots in such a scenario. Instead of pulling the mask with your hands you’d be protected by the gloves and lower your chances of infection.

Say you don’t have gloves and you use your hands, in that case, your number one priority would be to keep your hands away from your eyes, mouth, and nose, and once you can, lather your hands to combat those germs.
