CHOA (Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta) has a group of therapy dogs that go around and visit with children who are in the hospital. Life as a therapy dog isn’t all fun and games.
The dogs have to have the right temperament to be therapy dogs, and they are well-trained. In this video, Angelica gets to spend some quality time with one of the therapy dogs named Lancelot. As you can see, Lancelot is soaking up the love, and the children have happy grins! What more can you ask for?!
The dogs at CHOA don’t just lay around and get love all day. If a child is having a procedure done and is nervous, the dogs can be with them, and it helps the child relax. Who wouldn’t relax when there is a fluffy dog laying around?! Relaxing is a big part of a therapy dog’s life, however. Ministering to stressed children can be taxing on a dog.
