Jared and Kristi Owens were travelling from Texas to Las Vegas when they stumbled over an intruder tucked away in their luggage. When they tried to check in their bag, they found that it was 6 pounds overweight.
They figured all they had to do is rearrange some things, and go on with their day. But, when they opened the suitcase, they found something that shouldn’t have been there.
Hidden between all their clothes, the couple found Icky, their pet chihuahua. Jared knew their Vegas trip was destined to be epic as soon as he found the little trickster hiding inside their suitcase. And, the couple wasn’t even that surprised. The little dog is quite famous for his ability to burrow himself into things he shouldn’t be in.
Still, the couple had to deal with a big dilemma. What to do with Icky and their trip? If they took him home, they would miss their flight and would have to cancel their trip. But, at the same time, they couldn’t take Icky with them. Luckily, an employee, Cathy Cook, offered to care for Icky for the duration of the trip.
Cathy was a saving grace for the couple. As a Southwest employee, she could have made their life hell by accusing them of trying to smuggle the dog to Vegas. But that couldn’t have been further from her intentions. She showed understanding and kindness and was the perfect solution to the couple’s dilemma.
It’s a good thing that the luggage was overweight, and the Owens family found the little pup in the bag, as he probably wouldn’t have made it to Vegas in the bag.
