Deaf Dog Comes With A Brilliant Way To Communicate!

It’s no secret for dog parents and animal lovers that communication between the two parties is always taking place. For most dogs, they have distinct barks that can mean many different things.

From needing food, wanting to go out, playing, and sensing danger, the barks of dogs are commonly heard and normalized. In some cases, dogs hearing their own barks aren’t as common. Looking at the sweet rescue dog named Reggie, living in silence is normal. Reggie’s family believes that she was born deaf, not allowing her to ever hear the loving calls of her family, or of her own voice.

Even with this being the case, Reggie has made a bark all her own. By watching other dogs similar to her bark and community, she came to the conclusion that moving her mouth and vocal cords such as they do, must be a great way to demand attention. Reggie’s family said that it took them a moment to realize what was really happening because her first words came out as a bit of a cough.

When she finally kept mimicking the motions and attempting to make barking noises, Reggie’s mom Lindsay knew she was trying to communicate. Sure Reggie’s bark is a bit unconventional, but it’s all a part of how her life must be. Lindsay is a big fan of Reggie’s unique bark because she knows that it’s about time she is heard.

Lindsay says that Reggie is always proud of herself after trying to bark, and instead of solely using it when needed, Reggie exercises this newfound talent at all times. Whether that be to play, ask for a treat, or speak to Lindsay, Reggie’s bark comes out in full form, and the family isn’t one to complain!
