Dog Finds New Home After Her Family Of 12 Years Rejected Her Due To Old Age

Life isn't so rosy for shelter dogs, but senior shelter dogs get it even worse because they are less likely to be adopted. In an ideal world, no senior should spend months or even years in a shelter, but that is the sad reality they often find themselves in.

When we hear stories about dogs getting adopted from a shelter, we often believe they go to live a happy life with their new family. While that is often the case, sometimes things don't end up as planned.

Staff at the Pennsylvania SPCA were excited when someone adopted 3-year-old Netty, thinking she was off to her happily ever after. Sadly, the dog was returned to the shelter 12 years later because her parents didn't want to deal with her in her old age.

The Pennsylvania SPCA took to Facebook to share the sad news and announce that they were looking for a new home where she could live out her golden days. Two days later, the shelter came back with some good news.

"The breaking news of all breaking news: Netty is ADOPTED!!! She's heading home with 3 senior dog siblings and her mom is a vet tech!" the Pennsylvania SPCA wrote on Facebook.

It's such a relief that Netty found an incredible new family after her first family abandoned her in her old age.
