Dog Food With Salmonella and Listeria Contamination Has been Withdrawn By Company

2 and 5 pound packets of Performance Dog frozen raw pet foods and Ground beef have been recalled by New Jersey-based company; Bravo Packaging Inc. after a report of the possibility of listeria and salmonella contamination.

The report was released by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) after a sample test came back positive for the pathogenic monocytogenes. For those who have bought the products and possibly fed the dogs, both the handler and the dog are at risk of falling sick.

With regards to a dog falling ill from Salmonella; the biggest sign is diarrhea and drowsiness thereafter, in some cases dogs may feel feverish or may vomit. Healthy dogs can beat Salmonella because of their resilient digestive system and strong stomach acids, which can kill off the ill-causing bacteria. Contact with Listeria has the same effect on dogs, most dogs come into contact with the bacteria so fatalities are rare, any concerning displays from your dog should be assessed by a vet.

Food poisoning is very common with dogs because of their sensitive stomachs; the lengthy list of foods they cannot eat give testimony to this; however fatalities or severe damage is rare if a dog isn’t overfed a dangerous food, again their stomach acid is irrepressible.

So far, those who purchased the faulty products haven’t come forward with any issues, but the company advises those who have fed the product to their dogs to see a vet.
