Lady has always loved playing around with other dogs and making new friends. So, when she and her family moved into a new neighborhood and noticed dogs were living next door’ she was over the moon. Turns out, her new neighbor, Nikko, was even more excited to meet her.
From the moment Nikko and Lady met, they became best friends. Soon after Lady moved in, Nikko started to bring her gifts to show how happy she is to have her as a new friend.
Erika Ekman, Lady’s mom, notes that Nikko first offered Lady a ball as a gift a few times after they said hello through the fence. She thinks she would have gifted Lady the ball sooner if she had one in the yard when they first met.
If Nikko and her brother, Mac, are outside when Lady is outside on her daily walk, Nikko will search for a ball to give to Lady. She can’t always find one, but when she can, her mood improves. She probably hopes that if she gives Lady the ball, she will give it back, thus enabling them to play a game of fetch together.
But that doesn’t usually happen. Instead, Erika always gives Nikko her balls back, otherwise, she might run out of them. This routine might seem peculiar from the point of view of a passer-by, but it makes both Lady and Nikko very happy.
It’s the part of the day they both look forward to the most. Lady always drags Erika to Nikko’s house. Since their families noticed how well the two get along, they started to schedule playdates so the pair can play for real, without a fence between them.
Of course, the playdates are loved by Nikko and Lady, as well as their families.
