Five months ago, Luísa Marun had no choice but to adopt a little dog named Charlene. Someone had abandoned the dog outside Marun’s home in Brazil. Since the dog had nowhere else to go, Marun knew the best thing to do was help the dog by taking her in.
Recently, Marun had to save Charlene from one of life’s little annoyances – hiccups. Charlene came down with hiccups, but they failed to go away on their own, making the pup quite upset. “She had been playing when the hiccups suddenly began,” Marun said. “She then laid down on my bed, feeling upset.”
Seeing Charlene upset, Marun took pity on her and decided to help her. Marun recalled that in the past, when she had hiccups, receiving a little startle sometimes helped relieve her. So, she provided one to Charlene to see whether it would have the same effect on her. Thankfully, when Charlene took it, her hiccups went away. The dog was so grateful to be free from it.

“She seems to have been happy when she saw that the hiccups had stopped!” Marun said. “She gave me many kisses of thanks.”
Usually, hiccups eventually go away on their own without any intervention. However, Marun saw Charlene’s frustration and had to help because she would do the same for her.
