A dog mom in England, Andrea Brown, was left heartbroken recently after her dog, Banjo, died in the care of a dog sitter.
Andrea left her two Bernese Mountain dogs, Banjo and Bisto, with a dog sitter she met on an on-demand pet sitting platform, Rover, which she said she had used several times.
Andrea allegedly instructed the dog sitter to let the dogs out in the garden at home instead of going on their regular walk due to the heatwave in England at that time. However, instead of following her instructions, the dog sitter put the dogs in her car and drove to town.
According to news reports, Banjo died in the dog sitter’s car. “The dog sitter had called me all in a panic to say Banjo has collapsed. I asked where they were and I was told in town.” Andrea explained to Gloucestershire Live. Not long after she got the call, the vets confirmed that the dog had died.
The incident was even more troubling for Andrea because the dog sitter wasn’t even supposed to come and let her dogs out until evening. “The dog sitter was meant to come in around 8pm to let them out so I don’t even know why they were out with my dogs in the first place,” Andrea said.
The incident is currently under investigation by the police and RSPCA. Rover has also removed the dog sitter from their platform.
