#DogFood Update - The Natural Dog Company Recalls Tremenda Sticks Pet Chews Due To Possible Salmonella Contamination

Yet another company recalls some of its dog food product because a routine test reveals Salmonella. See what products have been recalled.

It all started when we told you about Blue Buffalo, Nestle Purina, Boulder Dog Food Company, OC Raw Dog, Stella & Chewy’s, I And Love And You, and now this. According to a news release from the Food and Drug Administration, a Colorado based company called The Natural Dog Company have recalled 12-ounce bags 12-inch Tremenda Sticks pet chews. The contaminated products were distributed in retail stores in Ohio, California, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Missouri, Montana, North Carolina, Utah and Washington.

The contaminated product comes in bags and they have no lot number or expiration date. The UPC # is 851265004957. Products with the same UPC number but in a different packaging and which includes a lot number and an expiration date, are not part of the recall. Salmonella is an organism, which according to other sources, “…can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.

Salmonella can also affect dogs as it is known to cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, abdominal cramping and fever. If you find any symptoms and if your pet has consumed the recalled product, please contact your vet.
