Have you ever heard the warnings around how dangerous it is to leave your dog alone chained to your back yard? The thing is, when we go to work or leave to run errands, we don’t always know what our pets are capable of without us around.
They might seem fine when we are with them, but when we leave them there is always a chance that they become frightened and unintentionally hurt themselves. The story of Alex is a prime example of where things can go wrong.
The Feed Friends Foundations received a desperate call when a dog was found trapped by his long chain attached to his collar. Alex was found in an isolated area by a team that cleans the location regularly. Without the team being there, he might have never been found.
With a desperate look in his eyes, the Foundation members knew he was scared and desperate for help. Alex was immediately taken to the vet, where it was discovered that he was severely dehydrated and had an infected wound, most likely from being stuck. Thankfully, a kind-hearted woman, Thea, adopted Alex and offered to start his recovery.
Alex’s soft soul helped him heal quickly and today he stand stronger than ever, with full trust in his new owner!
The take-home message from this story is clear. It is so important for us to take good care of our pets, especially if we leave them at home alone. Having a companion who cares about us is truly special, but we must remember we have a responsibility to treat them with love and respect too!
